From the Desk of the GM...
You'll notice that we've unfortunately had to put a leash on the comment system over here at HLOG due to some comments that we feel have no business being here. As much as I would love to hang 'em up for a public flogging, I personally feel like it's not worth our time and energy to be entertaining that bull-[expletive]. The comments will therefore be moderated for awhile as I'm not convinced the trolls have the follow through to keep at the harassment.
I don't want to turn this into another angry post about the difficulties of being a female blogger in a landscape dominated by males. I think it's safe to say 99.99% of the male bloggers I've come across have been more than wonderful and simply put, awesome people to get to know and I hope that the 0.01% who gets their panties in a twist because they feel threatened by knowledgeable and passionate female sports fans will get the necessary therapy they need to overcome their women issues.
When I first started blogging some two years ago, I was afraid of how as a female I would be perceived and that I wouldn't be taken seriously. And you know what? That should never be something somebody has to go through. It never should have been something to give me doubts about whether or not I should be writing about the sport I've loved and followed for years. The important thing is to just let your passion and your knowledge come through in your writing and you'll get the credit that you're due. HLOG is supposed to be a place for hockey fans, both male and female, to come together to discuss the game that they love. If you can't deal with it, then there's the door and don't let it hit your ass on the way out.

They Love Us! They Really Do Love Us!
It looks like our humble little piece of the hockey blog-o-sphere has received the Deadspin treatment once again (this time with more favourable reviews?). In any case, for any frat boys who came here expecting more of the same from the page that actually brought you here, sorry to disappoint. (We are still waiting on our invitations to be guest editors, by the way).
Last time we were featured, we allegedly set the women's movement back 30 years. In a year's time, we've managed to reform our ways and become a 'militant feminist organization'. Now that's progress.
Regardless of what we are, we always have a fridge stocked full of beer and enough seating to accompany everybody, so grab a drink and enjoy. You've come to us at a special time as we're closing in on 1000 posts here at HLOG. To celebrate, everybody who comments on our 1000th post will be given one free glass of vanilla champagne from the grocery store and two, no three complimentary pieces of cheese (your choice of marble or Gouda!).

A letter from the editor...
If we ever made a HLOG magazine (which would be an instant hit and become one of the highest selling publications, surpassing Oprah), this would be the first page with a nice glamour shot of me at a coffee table and a roast in the oven.
Nonetheless the season is finally over, no more post season games and no more "my team is better than yours nyer nyer nyer". I think it's appropriate to help ease the HLOG into the new offseason. Sherry is staring at the bottom of... I dont know and HG is MIA. I want to say that we have a huge variety of things lined up, several guest speakers, talent contests and a little danceoff (the truth: What the hell are we going to do?). I was thinking, I don't know, maybe a little more stupid personality quizes and as well a Renaissance fair?
Nonetheless we'll get the shirt things done but apart from that, maybe each member can do a little end of the season review (answering some questions I may propose later) and a photo of their current state. Talk about your upcoming UFAs, and as well we can talk about the latest girlie mags and things which make us go "ooh". Johnny Depp hot or not? Or is really Jessica Alba all that?
Not to mention many of us need some fine tuned lessons in HLOG etiquette!

Updates
I have been altogether far too wrapped up in my boys' run to make a lot of posts lately. Honestly, I have to pinch myself every couple of days to make sure this is all really happening. But in the interest of professional decorum, I'll hold off on talking about the Senators' magical run as I realize that some of you are in mourning. Plus, they still have one more win to get under their belt before the big dance.
In any case, I thought I'd take the day off to get some admin business out of the way.
