I Hate My Team Right Now and I Really Want to Cry

I hate my team right now and I really want to cry. Is this normal? Do I need to get help?

I hope Ryan Miller beats the stuffing out of every guy on his team between now and Wednesday because Lord knows he deserves a hell of a lot more than he's been getting.

Heather...I'm sorry. Miller did play incredible tonight. I was listening to it on NHL radio and they had nothing but good things to say about him. Although I don't like the Sabres, I'm shocked at how they're playing. Anyway, I'm sorry :(

....you know i have been anti-sabers for this whole playoffs, mostly because I was so sick of hearing from the media that they were the "sure thing"...but boy.....I am also not an Otta-watta fan...so GO SABERS....if they start playing it isn't to late!

I cry easy over these things (despite laughing in sad movies) so I know where you're coming from. Keep your chin up and enjoy life - because I'm a Habs fan and everyone knows how terrible they were.

Heather, I still -- STILL! -- have a black and empty hole in my heart from the Devils tanking Game 7 of the Finals in 2001 (after tanking Game 6 with a 3-2 series lead). The hate still lingers. So, uh, yeah, I'm hoping that's normal... (But the rational side of me does like to point out when the bitterness threatens to overwhelm that at least we got that far that year, and that plenty of other fans would have loved to have had our problems. Then I think, "What is wrong with those fans? Why would anyone WANT to feel this way??" And I let the bitterness overwhelm me. It's all a very emotionally healthy process.)

Schnookie, I'm glad I'm not alone then. It was one thing when they lost last year - they played their hearts out and clearly left everything on the ice. This year the only one who seems to be trying is Ryan and he can't win by himself. The team apparently expects him to score goals in addition to stopping them. Even worse, they don't seem the least bit upset that they're playing so poorly. No one seems pissed or frustrated or concerned. EXCEPT FOR RYAN!!!!

Everyone knows how I feel about the Sabres, but man watching this is just depressing! I mean I was never a big supporter (except for Ty!) but I always had to hand it to you guys that you played with heart and really did deserve what you were going after. I hope you get that back, and not just because I hate Ottawa.

My deepest sympathies. I had the misfortune of cheering for the Canucks while they forgot that they were actually in the play-offs. There were more than a few tears shed by me during their playoff walk... er...run. I am torn by this Ottawa/Buffalo series. I really like Buffalo but I am Canadian so a part of me wants to cheer for Ottawa simply for that fact. I still thought Buffalo would be bigger in this series.

Your team is young. You have a lot more to learn. Be angry at your players, but not too angry; they're going through this together and that's the important thing. As bleak as it may seem right now, everyone has to learn how to win. It's not a gawd-given right.

AQG: Thanks. I really do think age and maturity are coming into play in this series. They lost a lot of veteran leadership in Jay McKee and Mike Grier and their best "let's all stay loose and have fun" guy in Marty Biron. They *are* young and I think they're struggling with the high expectations and the adversity of getting behind on a team that's of a higher quality than previous opponents. I know it's a learning process - after all, it took Ottawa some years to figure out how to get where they are. So I'm feeling okay overall. I just hate watching them flail like they are after such a fun season.

blueyez: Luongo and Miller should get together for coffee in the off-season. Two guys who definitely deserved better from their teammates.
