The HLOG has finally taken their Creative Challenge off hiatus and our first challenge was to create a soundtrack for our teams past season. I wanted it to be wholly meaningful and so, as is my nature, I made a joke of it first and went to my iTunes, clicked shuffle and happily played along trying to create a reason for whatever song came up. Then I got down to business and created my ACTUAL playlist, but first… the nonsense!! Enjoy.
Invisible – Ashlee Simpson
All the naysayers from the offseason who thought we’d be dead last and then turned around and called us a Cinderella story and talked about how exciting we were, etc. BAHAH! Stick that in your pipe and smoke it. We don’t need it.
Breaking Free – High School Musical (Yeah, yeah. I don’t want to hear it.)
A couple high points in the season when we cracked into the playoffs with a team that no one expected to go anywhere. Take some of that.
Kids of the Future – Jonas Brothers
Rookie Camp, ‘nuff said.
Heartache Every Moment – HIM
Every time we played the Minnesota Wild and got spanked. The beginning of the season when we faced the San Jose Sharks and couldn’t seem to get one past the Tosk. Man, I am cringing just thinking about it.
Stupid Girls – Pink
Ok… too easy. I’m not even going to go there. It’s sexist. Use your imagination.
Close Yet Far – CKY
The end of the season. We were so close to the playoffs we could taste them… unfortch, almost doesn’t count and we had to sit out, once again. Damn.

First Game of the Season – “Alive” by POD
Our arena was jam-packed and the tempo was crazy-insane. As fans, we finally had something to look forward to and it was obvious in the atmosphere in there. We came for a winning team and a good show and the players were only too happy to oblige.
Signing Ilya Bryzgalov – “You Are The One” by HIM
I wrestled with using Enrique Iglesias’ “Hero” but thought better of it… Haha.
Trading Fredrik Sjostrom to NYR, Keith Ballard and Nick Boynton to FLA – “Say Goodbye” by Chris Brown
Yeah, I’m a typical fangirl but I fell in love with my boys over the years and I hate losing my favs. There are those (who shall remain nameless to protect their honor) that I don’t even notice gone… and then there are guys like these.
My pet, Kyle Turris’, First NHL Game – “Right Where I Belong” by 3 Doors Down
Pretty self-explanatory. He belongs with us.
End of the Season – “Come So Far (Got So Far to Go)” from Hairspray
Yeah, that’s right. I know my team has come a long way from where we were even just a year ago but I’m okay with it. Every game we got better and more comfortable and even though we have probably have a long road ahead of us as far as winning the Cup is concerned… we’re on our way.
That’s probably (not) the best I can do but I’m going to leave it or else I’ll spend far too much time trying to make it perfect… never works.

This was so much fun!!
Psycho (Puddle of Mud) – This one’s for Glen Sather: dude, what goes through that head of yours?
Bargain (The Who) – total sarcasm regarding Chris Drury’s and Scott Gomez’s huge contracts.
No Excuses (Alice in Chains) – this is for the “bargains”: you got your contracts, now it’s your turn to ante up…no excuses!
Changes (Yes) – Big ones happening with Michael Nylander and Jed Ortmeyer going to other teams this season, not to mention the “bargains” above that were acquired.
New (No Doubt) – Here’s to the rookies that had such a huge impact and a great first year on the Rangers.
Common Disaster (Cowboy Junkies) – This is what mid-December felt like, and also losing to every western conference team they faced.
Magic Man (Heart) – Henrik Lundqvist racking up 10 shutouts on the season.
Hero of the Day (Metallica) – Brendan Shanahan when he scored the gwg against the Devils in overtime in an otherwise scoreless game; Stephen Valiquette shutting out the Flyers two times in a row. I could go on and on here…
Glide (STP) – Nigel Dawes sinking shootout goals like crazy, and driving brodeur crazy by beating him every time.
Fearless (Pink Floyd) – Sean Avery mixing it up in just about every game, especially with his buddy, Fatso.
Going For the One (Yes) – the playoff push that went to the last week of the regular season.
When It’s Over (Sugar Ray) – That’s the time I fall in love again…I hate the end of the season when I have to say good-bye to my Rangers, some of them for the last time.

Here are my songs for the 2007-2008 Columbus Blue Jackets season...this was a lot harder than it looked!
- L.L. Cool J Mama Said Knock You Out ~ This really is for the first game of the season, we played the Anaheim Ducks and Pazzy got his first shutout of the season. Jared Boll also got kicked out of his first NHL game.
- O Canada ~ Because, I went to my first game where we played a Canadian team and was able to sing :)
- Oh Happy Day ~ The day that Aaron Rome came to Columbus!!!
- Mommy Wow I’m a big kid Now ~ The day that Nikolai Zherdev showed he has grown as a player by passing up an opportunity to get a hat trick and giving it to his teammate. Still brings a tear to my eye.
- Blink 182 I Miss You ~ Jody Shelley getting traded, it’s always hard when you lose a heart and soul guy like Jody.
- Smash Mouth Hey Now You’re an All Star ~ Rick Nash was selected to the NHL All Star team, and Pascal Leclaire was not…LAME!
- Michelle Branch Goodbye to You ~ Adam Foote was traded, and now, I am over it.
- Scrubs Theme Song ~ For THE goal…twin you remember that one right?
- Hallelujah ~ We beat the Preds and I went to church the next day.
- I’ll Fly Away - Allison Krauss ~ Our Beloved Owner passed away.

2. How Fortunate The Man With None - Dead Can Dance
This was when old Bill Wirtz died. It, of course, is never fun to see your owner die, but on the other hand, he was an evil dictator to the entire organization. It wasn't happy, but still nice to have a change coming.
3. Get The Party Started - P!nk
Rocky finally put the first home game on TV (November 11th against the Detroit Red Wings) after years of having to listen to home games on the radio, and on my birthday!
4. U Can't Touch This - MC Hammer
In November we were 8-3-2, and 5-1 at home. We were dominating, and the Blackhawks organization was beginning to test new wings.
5. Alone I Break - Koяn
When Jonny boy sprained his knee in the game against Los Angeles on January 1st. The one we lost terribly. Then, we started to go down hill...
6. Stupid MF - Mindless Self Indulgence *Explicit*
We went 4-9-1 and Khabby went 0-8 in January. Lalime thankfully went 4-1, but the Bulin wall's performance was absolutely terrible. I didn't know what was wrong with him, but he needed to get knocked out of whatever slump he was in.
7. Beware Of The Boyz – Jay-Z
Toews and Williams came back after their injuries and we started to dominate again. In February we went 7-4-2, and in March we went 8-5-2. We honored Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita, and Tony Esposito during these months, and we began to actually become relevant again.
8. Stayin' Alive – The Bee Gees
At the end of the year, we were extremely optimistic and held onto our playoff hopes until the last two games of the season.
