I’m listening to it right now and I have to admit, I find it very amusing. It features Nicklas Backstrom, Patrick Kane and Jonathon Toews and outside of the monotonous typical responses, there are little nuances that I’m enjoying. Click to listen.
- Toews follows up all of Kaner’s responses with “yeah I agree” or “I think Patrick said it.”
- You can tell Nicklas Backstrom doesn’t do that many interviews. After the question, “can you give us your thoughts on all of the other great rookies in the league?” he responds with, “I think there's a lot of good players, I mean, I think a whole bunch of young players have stepped up this season, I mean, I think it's special for us. I think there are many good, young players.” There are many good, young players…interesting Nicklas. Then after the question, “could you share the best tip you’ve received this year?” he responds brilliantly with, “I think there's a lot of young players out there…I don’t have a good answer, sorry.” Oh poor Nicklas.
- Toews responds in complete French to some callers…and I wonder what all of the laughing was about…
- Whoever transcribed it on the Blackhawks website made Nicklas Backtrom sound like an idiot. Whereas the mass amount of fillers Toews and Kane used weren’t included…mysteriously.
- Kane sounded as though he’s been talking to the media for years, as usual.
Who do you girls think is going to win it?

I think Toews is a cutie but Backstrom put on quite the show this year. Can't say I know too much about Kane.
There's something about hockey player interviews that's different from other sports. It almost like everyone has a deadly fear of saying anything original. Except the older guys - they seem to be more liberal. Yeah I don't know what my point is there - kinda tired today!
I have to go with Toews, but I'm a bit biased since he's one of my favorite players in the league. P.Kane makes me laugh with basically anything he says, even if it's not that funny.
The problem is hockey players learned their responses from watching other hockey players. It's like they choose from a set of responses rather than thinking about the question and inventing an answer.
Jonnie was asked if he and Patrick were close friends and he laughed and said that they didn't really have much of a choice in the matter because they'd been together all year.
Yeah, I speak French. Don't all Canadians???
I'm rooting for Toews. I don't think Kane has as brilliant as he was expected to be, and, well, I like Toews more than Backstrom. I wouldn't be surprised if Backstrom won it, though.
...Bear in mind, this is coming from someone who isn't entirely knowledgeable about the Blackhawks or the Capitals.
I'm going to say that Kane takes it. I think the games that Toews missed because of injury will hurt him, even though he still had a very good season. Backs started slow but has certainly upped his game.
It's probably good for the NHL if Kane wins, being American and all.
