As if a 4-0 loss due to Montreal Canadiens wasn't bad enough, the greater loss is Leafs D Bryan McCabe. In a seemingly innocent enough looking play against the boards with Habs' LW Andrei Kostitsyn, McCabe broke 3 bones. He is expected to be on IR for 6-8 weeks.
The news could not come at a worse time for the hereto high flying Leafs. They finally managed to get a string of victories under coach Paul Maurice's quasi-trap, D first plan. McCabe is a work horse if only for the 30 minutes a game he has been logging of late; love him or hate him, the Leafs will miss McCabe, funny faces and all.
