Saturday Six

1. What is your favorite hockey movie?
2. What is your shoe size?
3. What was your favorite cartoon when you were growing up?
4. What foreign language did you take in high school?
5. Are you too cool (or snotty) to shop at regular grocery stores, such as Ralphs, Albertsons, Vons, Schnucks, Dierbergs, Kroger, etc.? And if so, where do you shop for food?
6. What is your favorite John Hughes movie? (just in case, he's the guy that made those great '80s movies such as, The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, Sixteen Candles, etc.)

And you can you believe it's already August? Two more months till the regular season starts. Hang in there ladies, we can do it!

UPDATE:
Okay ladies, I only mentioned those grocery chains (in Question #5) because those are the only ones I know of from living in SoCal and St. Louis. But the local grocery chain question applies to any grocery chain/supermarket that is in your hometown. The question came to me when I was complaining to a coworker that the Ralphs (local supermarket chain) that is around the block from my apartment is closed for renovations till the end of the year and she looked at me and said, "You shop at Ralphs? Oh, I never go there." To which I wanted to say, "Well, I'm sorry if I'm too poor to shop at Whole Foods!" But I didn't say that because I actually like her and I realize that some people just do not like to shop at regular supermarket chains, either because they like the organic stuff or want to support the local growers. So basically, I guess the question should have been, Do you shop at a supermarket chain or do you boycott the chains and only shop at specialty foods store or a local farmers market/local growers store?

1. What is your favorite hockey movie?
I really can't help myself... I LOVE Mystery Alaska.

2. What is your shoe size?
9.. I have big clown feet. :)

3. What was your favorite cartoon when you were growing up?
I actually think that it was like My Little Pony & Babar. I was a Disney kid, what can I say?

4. What foreign language did you take in high school?
I didn't take any. Can you believe it? Although I DO live in Arizona... that's pretty much like taking Spanish every year of my life.

5. Are you too cool (or snotty) to shop at regular grocery stores, such as Ralphs, Albertsons, Vons, Schnucks, Dierbergs, Kroger, etc.? And if so, where do you shop for food?
Yes. I am snotty. I shop at Farmer's Markets (for the most part). I try to only eat organic and local grown food. I'm a hippie snob.

6. What is your favorite John Hughes movie?
16 Candles (which is one of my favorite movies ever) and Breakfast Club but also Home Alone & Curly Sue and I grew up on those movies so I love em. :)

1. What is your favorite hockey movie?
The Mighty Ducks

2. What is your shoe size?
5. But sometimes I can get away with 5.5!

3. What was your favorite cartoon when you were growing up?
The Gummy Bears.

4. What foreign language did you take in high school?
French. I wanted to read the stuff on my French-Canadian hockey cards. Also, since I'm from SoCal, I REFUSED to learn Spanish (and I still do). We speak English in this country!!

5. Are you too cool (or snotty) to shop at regular grocery stores?
Nope! But I still like to shop at Trader Joe's for some stuff, like their frozen gnocchi with red sauce.

6. What is your favorite John Hughes movie?
The Breakfast Club because Emilio Estevez is in it!

1. I'm not sure if Bon Cop, Bad Cop really counts as a hockey movie but I LOVE it. Other than that I think I probably have to go with Slapshot...I mean, it's classic.

2. 9 - apparently I do too, Tracy!

3. I never much liked cartoons...cartoon movie-wise it was All Dogs Go to Heaven though. Still amazing.

4. German - and not until my senior year and only because I liked the teacher (though actually it was a fun class too). I refused to take one of those languages everyone else did.

5. No - but only because stupid Kalamazoo doesn't HAVE a damn snotty grocery store. Though here I will sometimes go to the People's Co-Op which is horribly pretentious but tasty. When I'm at home I either go to Nino Salvaggio's or the new Papa Joe's markets - and I get most of my produce homegrown from little roadside stands.

6. Um, I'm not kidding...I haven't seen any of them. And I have no idea what else he's made. And I'm too lazy to look it up :P

1. Eh... I think Cutting Edge tops it for sheer funny value.

2. 5-6 It's usually a 5 but I have hideous flat wide feet so I always get bumped up a size.

3. Well... there's a LOT. And yes All dogs go to heaven was AMAZING.

4. Japanese! I was a year a head when I entered high school and I was too lazy to do anything else. Though I wish I took something more exciting now.

5. No way, expensive food just makes me sad. I like my suparmarket!

6. John... who?

Holy crap, a Saturday Six?!

1. Mystery, Alaska. Love it. Any movie where you have a guy sliding bare naked on his ass into a pile of snow and the Rangers getting made fun of (sort of) is an instant classic.

2. 9...which is a perfectly normal size. What's with the 5's, you tiny-footed freaks? ;)

3. Captain Planet, he's our hero...gonna take pollution down to zero! No? Anyone?

4. French - which of course means I speak it very poorly. Thank you, American public school systems.

5. Considering I've only heard of Kroger...I don't even think I'm even cool enough for those. 'Round here we go to Giant (or should I say with Peapod delivery, Giant comes to us).

6. Breakfast Club, no contest.

1. Slapshot.

2. 8 1/2 which is apparently pretty popular as I can't find shoes in that size often.

3. When I was growing up in the 80's it was all Tom & Jerry, Flintstones, Jetsons etc

4. Spanish and I was bad at it. I wish I paid more attention.

5. Ok, we don't have those stores on Long Island. I shop at Stop & Shop, Shop Rite and our local chain, King Kullen.

6. LOVE John Hughes. While it was very hard to pick..Sixteen Candles. I have like every line memorized.

1. Oh! Um. Choices, choices... Men with Brooms... wait, no, that's curling... oh, hell. The Flames' 80s "Red Hot" video?

2. 8B (in US sizes, anyways). Though one foot is smaller than the other, so I think it's 8B/8

3. I'm still watching them :) She-ra, Thundercats, TMNT...

4. Is it really a foreign language if it's one of your country's official languages? But yeah, I took a buttload of French.

5. I'm not too cool or too snotty to shop at Loblaw's or Dominon or anywhere like that, but I'm too cheap to get too much stuff there. Chinese or other ethnic grocery places (which abound in my neighbourhood, and feature extremely fresh, cheap and incredibly varied produce) for meeeeee...

6. Er. I'm glad I'm not the only one who hasn't watched any, I feel like less of a doofus that way.
