Friday Five, August 31

As we head into September, our thoughts turn to hockey. Unfortunately for some strange reason, hockey is not live 24/7. In those hours of non-hockey television, we must do something...

  1. What show have you watched the first season on DVD and can't get enough of now?
  2. What was your favourite summer show?
  3. Which show are you looking most forward to returning?
  4. What was your favourite cartoon of your youth? And now?
  5. Which reality show gets your vote for WORST EVER?
Get those remotes out, ladies. For some, it's time to procrastinate from doing homework. For others, it's just time to waste time.

[g/t to CC for the theme this week!]

Wheeee! #1 (since I helped... :D)

1. Entourage - yeah, I know...I'm about 8 million years behind everyone else, blah blah blah.

2. So You Think You Can Dance. Mock if you must. You know you watch it.

3. The Office. I don't think I need to back that one up with rationale.

4. Favorite cartoon of my youth would have to be Jem, followed closely by Captain Planet (and great, now the theme song to that is running through my head). Now it's a tie between Family Guy and Simpsons.

5. God, there are so many...I'm going to go with Wife Swap, but honestly as much as I watch some pretty crappy shows there are some that really make me want to throw up.

I'm going to be lame on this one, I know it. I don't watch much TV at all.

1.) Grey's Anatomy
2.) I didn't watch TV much outside of baseball this summer.
3.) Grey's. All of my friends and I have the season premiere written in our planners.
4.) I loved all the Bugs Bunny type cartoons as a kid. Looney Toons I guess they are. I also liked Cow and Chicken when I got older. Still do. Simpsons and Futurama are probably my current favs.
5.) I have never, ever watched a single reality TV show.

Oh, whatever...everybody here knows I'm a geek, anyways.

1) Dead Like Me. Though I ended up watching the second season on DVD and liked it even more.

2. My Boys. Not quite the home run it was first season, but I still likes.

3. House. Got hooked on this at the end of last season.

4. Of my youth? She-ra. And now? I'm finding that both her and her brother are holding up remarkably well. Plus there's a reference in the last season of Babylon 5 to...

Oh, does anybody else really care?

I like Futurama a hell of a lot, too...

5. I'm developing a healthy hate for the Surreal Life, mostly because MuchMoreMusic airs it so bloody much. And also mostly because it sucks.

Lost. We rented the first two discs of the first season and were so hooked that we bought the DVD so we wouldn't have to rent the remaining two discs.

2. What was your favourite summer show?
The Closer. And there are only 2 more episodes left!

3. Which show are you looking most forward to returning?
This is a tough one. Probably Lost, which I have to wait till February for. But I do get The Office, Grey's Anatomy, and 30 Rock in the fall.

4. What was your favourite cartoon of your youth? And now?
I think it was The Gummi Bears because I thought they were so cute! Does King of the Hill count as a cartoon? I didn't start watching it till this past year but I love it. I have a friend who grew up in a small Texas town and he said that Texas people love the show and they're just like the characters.

5. Which reality show gets your vote for WORST EVER?
There are so many, many of which I haven't actually watched but have only seen commercials. I would say probably America's Got Talent because Hasselhoff is a fucking joke and shouldn't be on TV. My favorite reality show is The Amazing Race...I wouldn't mind being on that one.

1. Um.. Due South most recently. Battlestar Galactica, that's still ON.

2. Real Housewives of Orange County. It's like a train wreck, I swear.

3. Battlestar (even though it is the last season!)

4. Doug, hands down.

5.Kathy Griffin's Life on the D List. (FOr whatever reason I have basic cable and Bravo and no remote. I've been watching Bravo.)

1. A friend copied me the first season of Weeds and I've been addicted ever since. Of course now I don't get Showtime anymore and have to download all the episodes.

2. Rescue Me! Although I'm sort of sad about how the season started off all promising and kind of faded lately...but oh well, it's been the only non-baseball thing worth watching during the summer (okay okay I got a little addicted to Top Chef too, but...).

3. I was pretty excited about Dexter, and Weeds of course, but then episodes leaked :P So now maybe Nip/Tuck - or MacNamara/Troy if that's what they're calling it now.

4. Oh man I don't know...I never liked cartoons that much but I know there are things I'm just not thinking of. I did like Two Stupid Dogs :P And Angry Beavers!

5. Those stupid ones out now where all you have to do to win is KNOW THE WORDS OF SONGS. Argh.

4. Transformers, X-Men

1. The Office.
2. I've been watching Flight of the Conchords on those on-demand things...pretty good stuff, although I'm not sure it's a summer show.
3. hee...Office
4. wow...nothing comes to mind. My dad always said I really liked Smurfs, but I don't remember it at all.
5. Just one? Probably the Idols...

1. Scrubs. That show is the best thing ever. I love you Dr. Cox! I also liked Supernatural.

2. I've had my television on a total of 2 hours this summer. I canceled my cable, if that tells you how much I watch tv during the year (minus hockey, of course. And Scrubs)

3. Hockey doesn't count, right? See answer to #2.

4. Hmm...of my youth, probably Thundercats and Silverhawks. Oh! And Transformers...and He-Man/She-Ra....right. I had a lot and I'll just stop now. I watched a lot of cartoons. Now? Family Guy.

5. All of them. I can't stand reality TV (I can't even watch the Be A Bruin one), but the ones that end in people crying because they've been mislead and lied to are probably up there.

1. Doctor Who Season One

2. The Closer, Burn Notice, Kyle XY were all good this summer

3. NCIS, because Mark Harmon is smokin'

4. Then it was Scooby Doo; now it's Futurama and Family Guy

5. They all reek, except for Gene Simmons, which is probably scripted. Scott Baio is 45 and Single was by far the worst. I refused to watch Rock of Love with Bret Michaels.

1. None.
2. Angel's Baseball
3. Grey's Anatomy & Ugly Betty
4. The Jetsons, on re-runs. Then & now
5. All of them.
