Since we're talking fashion lately...

So we've mostly all agreed that those pink jerseys are pretty awful. Thanks to my old friends at The Pensblog, I've discovered that obviously, the NHL has indeed heard our pleas. They've realized that we want to look like hockey fans, not the unfortunate girlfriends of hockey fans being dragged to games and subjected, with our perfectly coiffed bleached hair and manicured nails, to a cold arena full of screaming fans (unless you live in Chicago), because they're getting right on remedying this situation by offering, for the paltry sum of $39.99, the following:

Yes. Those are butterflies.
BUTTERFLIES.

i saw that the other day when i was looking for a pens sweatshirt. now how do pens logos and butterflies go together?

on another note i'm sure some of you have seen the shirts with the crystals on the logo. they're not as bad as the pink but the crystals make the price so much higher... and then you have to worry about one of the crystals falling off in the wash cause then you couldn't wear the shirt with out looking retarded.

why can't they just make girl shirts with logos and number and names and stuff just like the guys have? guy shirt stuff in girls fits and sizes!!!!!

Let's be honest - making normal shirts in girl's fits and sizes? Common sense. So it's never gonna happen...

Come on now!! Nothing says hockey like butterflies! Where have you guys been??

On a side note, (minus the butterflies) that's pretty cute. I would wear it if I weren't morally opposed to the Pens (and every other team besides my own). I LOVE HOODIES!! Haha.

I'm just waiting for Elly's computer to work again so I can show her (she'll be caught between infuriated and cracking up, I'm sure; we have a really dumb set of inside jokes about butterflies) - the weird thing is I looked around at a bunch of the other teams and I don't see anyone else having hoodies with butterflies. Granted I didn't look through every team or anything, but I looked at a number of them.

And seriously! I want to know why it's so hard for them to make the name and number shirts period - the players they make them of seem so damn arbitrary.

Oh and Tracy I thought the same thing! I'd totally want one if it were just the team logo, because I love hoodies and I even more so love things that are really obnoxious and colorful, and those would come close to both.

damn that is fugly. and patronizing.

I'm with Shmee, the NHL merchandising team are a bunch of donkeys. I'm a bit scared it's freaking spandex too.

I think we need to find a prominent designer to make decent clothes for us.

So who exactly designs this stuff??? Straight, non-metro Guys who think they know what girls like and look good in??? Or well girls who hasn't been exposed in the real world???

Seriously. The NHL obviously needs the HLOG input on this.

:D T-shirt/Fashion design contest as new creative challenge guys? :DDDD

Hmm... I wonder if we could actually make something of this... anyone got ANY real connections to the NHL at all?

ok, honestly, if that was a onesie pajamas, I would totally wear it! But out in public?? Eek!!

why can't they just make girl shirts with logos and number and names and stuff just like the guys have?

Ellie, I completely agree! I kept searching online hoping that some random merchant sold those shirts in girl sizes, or even youth sizes, because they're really cool shirts.

I did want the shirt with Swarovski crystals and they don't offer it for my team. :(

I think we're all overlooking an important element that factored into the design of this sweatshirt. Why is it only available for the Pens? Because Sid clearly really, really likes butterflies. He sees them and thinks, "Oh, butterflies, you and I have so much in common..."

Float like a butterfly, fall like a penguin?

Maybe it's some sort of convoluted strategy.

When the other teams spot your female fans in this, there's no way they'll take you seriously... get them off their guard, then BAM!

Or, um, not?

Jordi: that is an awesome idea. I know Alyssa Milano "designs" clothes for the NHL but I'm not going to count the star of "Poison Ivy" as a designer.

We need a designer who likes hockey to make sweaters. Any ideas?

I'm pretty confident that I could do the alterations myself (as soon as my sewing machine makes it cross country) but my inner cheapass is a little leery of hacking up a $160 jersey.
