Playoff Beards

Here's a situation I've always wondered:

What is the female equivalent of a playoff beard?

Personally, I am not letting any razors or scissors touch me. If it means not being in a bathing suit, so be it. My Senators need all the luck I can give them ...

Reply in the comments, I'm really interested in what the girls are doing.

You know, I've always wondered that, and I was just thinking about it this afternoon. Is it just the legs, does it apply to regular haircuts too? Or does it apply to women at all?

The only thing I've done is wear my Crosby t-shirt during all the games without washing it. A little icky? Maybe. I didn't wear it for game 1, and look what happened!

Also -- does waxing count? And bikini lines? ...

I paint my nails and the teams tend to lose more often. I've decided that if I don't wear anything, I wont jinx anything.

I know some ladies who come into our work who have a good chance at makng a beard.

In the Canucks forum... for the "playoff beard sign up thread", I think some girls signed up to uhh grow their leg hair and/or armpit hair.

I just painted my nails Canucks colors to support my team.

Yeah, I eschewed shaving the legs in the shower today. I'm going with it.

You guys know that hockey guys will find what your doing gross, right?
I think you should keep shaving, keep washing your clothes and think of some other way to support your guys.
Just sayin'. MN

I say just do nothing...but thats coming from a girl whose team isn't in the playoffs

Yes, I'm a so called "girly girl" and I don't think I could go without washing my clothes or shaving my legs for more than a few days. Of course, we just lost, and that's right after I took off my blue and gold nail polish... hey, that's my idea! I will always wear Sabres nail polish.

NOTHING that extreme. I'm sorry, but while the boys may be growing facial hair, they are continuing to groom themselves appropriately.

I intend to groom myself appropriately as well. That means as little body hair as physically possible.

As to the annonymous poster - we're fans. Most of us have very little interest in chasing the hockey boys (I say most, as I clearly enjoy being chased by them).

To support my team? I drink.

I heard some people don't shave their armpits, but really, that's pretty gross.

I plan to keep shaving. The guys can grow the beards and still look hot, us with hairy armpits & legs...not so hot!

I'm fine with doing other crazy things. Like wearing the same outfit & make up for each game. That's fine, I still wash everything. I wanna support them, not make them die from the smell of dirty clothes and stinky pits.

Yeah. I couldn't imagine growing my leg/armpit hair either... o_____o that's why I stuck with painting my nails Canucks colors and wearing my Naslund shirt. :D

I don't know. Summer is fast approaching, and I want to wear shorts and tank tops soon... XD hairy leg and pits ain't a good sight.

I got myself a Toskala shirt for the moment, and I haven't cut my hair for half a year already. But I wouldn't consider not shaving the pits. And I'm pretty un-girly and can skip shaving my legs since my hair never shows up and I wear pants.

I'm ready to start investing in extra makeup!

As someone who swims, I need to keep the razor active. I just don't end up cutting my hair but that's pretty regular I guess, haha.

The hairy legs thing is less a grooming thing than a don't-want-to-change-anything-about-myself-that-I-had-when-they-were-winning thing. I've also been chewing on napkins during the game because that's what I happened to be doing when the Isles beat the Rangers last.

But I'm so glad Anonymous told me that people I never plan to meet will dislike something about me. Phew. I hope they take me into consideration when making basic life decisions, too. I guess it's off to Duane Reade for some Veet!

Margee - Hahahaha. Personally I plan to attend Flames games and offer them razors.

Hi, new girl who discovered this blog.

I'm big on the painting the nails as the playoff beard equivalent. It involves grooms and isn't gross or weird. Of course I really don't think anything I do is going to help Marty Turco. But all hockey fans are a little superstitious so...

ahaah i've done it!!! i'm still kinda on it now even though I'm considering breaking the no-shaving policy between series... hahahaha it's a little gross when you can feel the breeze, you know what i'm saying?

Talking to someone else about this subject we realized-

We think the entire point of playoff beards is that it's a mucho, manly thing, and ladies can't do it.

So... maybe we'll have to do something that they'll wish THEY could do (and be socialy acceptable), so I'm sticking with painting my nails.
