The Leafs appear to have learned from Saturday's 6-1 loss to Montreal. Matt Stajan is learning from the press box - he's a healthy scratch following his sub-par performance against the Habs.
Tomas Kaberle, expected too be the Leafs top goal scorer notched his first of the season at 3:22. From the outside edge of the face-off circle, he converted a nice pass from Mike van Ryn. The even strength goal followed a solid power play by the Leafs, who continually pestered Legace and the Blues D.
St. Louis put pressure on Toskala around 11:00. Spread-eagled in the ice, amid a slew of bodies, he managed to fend off the attack.
Rookie Nikolai Kulemin, sandwiched between Mike Pietrangelo and Barrett Jackman managed to get his shot behind Manny Legace. Nik Antropov had the lone assist.
Beleaguered Jason Blake finally got some help from Lady Luck. She removed the snake bitten curse long enough for Blake's backward shot from the far corner to make contact with Alexei Ponikarovsky's stick, bounce off the right post and into the Blues' net.
Dominic Moore showed some grit. Taking offence to a low hit by Roman Polak, Moore dropped the gloves with David Backes. It wasn't much of a contest - Backes pinned Moore down.
