Blues 5 - Leafs 4

Paul Kariya(Berglund) potted his first of the season at 15:39 – a 23-foot backhand.

The edge from period two carried over into the third frame with more control. There was a lot of grinding along the boards but no penalties in the final 20 minutes of regulation, setting the stage for overtime.

Toskala captured the puck between his pads on an up close shot from David Perron. Shortly after Carlo Colaicovo came just shy of nabbing a loose puck in the Blues zone.

Legace blocked a Hagman shot.

With under a minute left the Blues started playing more desperately and the Leafs ended up Pavel Kubina got 2:00 for tripping at 4:14. Toskala’s short-handed save on Keith Tkachuk’s second consecutive shot created a deafening roar from the Thanksgiving crowd at the Air Canada Centre, setting the stage for a shootout.

The Blues win the shootout and the game. Andy McDonald’s goal was answered in kind by Nikolai Kulemin. Brad Boyes got the puck past Toskala to win the game 5-4.
