Just curious

So...one intrasquad prospects game, one practice later, and moments before I head out to one of two pre-season games I've got tix for, I've gotta ask...

...who here cares about the pre-season? In various chunks of the blogosphere, the reaction has been anything from "Meh" to "OookOoookOook!" to "Cool, now I can start looking for prospects for my fantasy team."

So where do people here stand?

I like preseason, because it's hockey come early! I also like getting a look at the prospects. I like to be all "ooh, we have 15 guys who all have a shot, awesome!" That means we will have people to trade, and people to play in a few years.

leanne, i'm excited about the pre-season since my flyers (a) couldn't seem to play last year and (b) brought in a lot of new talent over the summer. the guys have to fight it out for lines.

plus, i like seeing biron show-up niitty.

(by the way, i'm totally taking credit for our spanking the rangers tonight. i posted kate smith on my blog today for good luck about 30 minutes before the game started.)

I am. It's the only time I can only really see the Baby Nuckies.... and at this point in time, I've been so deprived of hockey, any hockey is good hockey.

The past 3 pre-season games for the Canucks have been very exciting, soooo..... :O

I really just like the return of hockey, but I don't read much into wins or losses. For me it's really just a good way to see how that hot young prospect measures up or the new line works out in a game-like scenario - because that's what these are, game-like scenarios...let's not kid ourselves and say these are real games.

I love watching the game, but it really doesn't mean anything. I've seen teams lose all 6 preseason games and play great throughout the season, and vice versa. I miss hockey, so it's great to just see it, plus its great to see what prospects your team has in the system, especially if you don't pay too much attention to the minors.

I like watching the preseason games because they don't MATTER. I can tell myself "it doesn't matter if FLeury is Haseking tonight, or that the Wings kicked our collective asses, because this is pre-season"

It's like hockey without the stress.
(Of course, my Bears did beat my BabyPens. I'm still trying to figure out how to cheer for those.)

Well, after last year's preseason when the Kings did really well and then crapped the bed during the regular season, I promised myself that I would never again pay attention to preseason stats. The only thing I will care about during every preseason is the injury report. The only other thing I've cared about this preseason is Jonathan Bernier and the Kings' goaltending situation. This kid has made things very interesting and I can't wait to see how it will affect the regular season.

I like winning, even if it is just a preseason game. I think I just like winning in general. My mom labels it "extreme overcompetitiveness".
