Jumping on the clothing "WTF" bandwagon, (and because I thought all of you should appreciate it fully, not leave it hidden in the comments) didja hear that Sidney Crosby just released his first clothing line?
Yeah.
That's what I said.
Of course, that was quickly followed by "Who the heck does he think he is, Ian Thorpe?"
The 'real' site is at Sidney360.com but a good overview is at the Sidney Crosby Show And the news mocks him mercilessly at TheStar.com
Of course, this drew immediate comparisons to Mary Kate and Ashley Oleson, as one of my hockey crowd said, "I think they're the only other 19 year olds I know of with a clothing line." This was quickly countered by, "Yeah, but Sid's legs are sorta the size of an Oleson each... I think he could take 'em."
I think the best part is the fact that the line includes a girl's t-shirt that says "I <3 Crosby." (see floozy on right).
Yeah.
That's what I said.

awesome blog. Hopefully his clothing line does alright. If anyone should have his name on something hockey right now it should be him anyways.
I recently have made a blog about hockey. Check it out at:

Okay, so I have a question. If Sid consulted his family for the female side of the clothing line than isn't it slightly vaguely disturbing that one of the t-shirts say "I (heart) Crosby"? Wasn't it technically their idea then?
Its the pink sneakers with his name and jersey number on them that kill me.
I don't know if it's the bland generic colours or the prototypical athletic clothing colours, but Crosby's old clothes for Reebok were just oversized and boring. Much like his carefully crafted media image. Come on Sidney, do something scandalous.
i hope he's embarassed. ok, so i'm not a famous hockey player, but if (yes, if) i was, i think i'd still find this self-indulgent.
on the other hand, i learned of this development in the globe and mail, where a reader comment read: "anyway, good for you Sid. Life is short and have some fun if you can."
can't argue with that.
I was tickled to discover that Sid's clothing line is the front story on the Leafs' website? What the heck? I know the unveiling took place in Toronto but there's nothing better going on with the Leafs right now?
Oh, Side. He look so uncomfortable in some of those photos. I love him.
More like he looks uncomfortable in ALL of them. On that note, his website is completely charming and I would hope that one day he stars in his own awkward sitcom.
What sarcasm?
Heather B. - Technically the launch took place in Mississauga, which isn't considered Toronto (at least in Mississauga's mind). there really is nothing better going on in TO right now unless you want to hear more about Mats Sundin's (ZOMG!) new Swedish girlfriend (which made front page of the Toronto Sun last week)
darn it! i have to start reading the sun again.
no sweat. mississauga isn't considered part of toronto by torontonians either...haha
As the resident Mississaugian (I don't know even know if that's what we go by), I take great offense. I vehemently and categorically deny Sidney Crosby ever visiting our fair, bland, efficient, hazel city--it is indeed a Toronto problem.
Shan, technically I'm a Mississaugian too. In fact, the SportChek in question is one I often frequent. I was there just yesterday actually and was greeted by Crosby's giant face on the store window right by the front entrance.
My bad. The Leafs homepage made it sound like the even took place in Toronto. Must've been a really, really slow news day.
Sidney turned 20 this summer!
For shame ladies ... for shame.
