When the working day is done, girls, they wanna have fun!

In a turn of events which resulted from me renting the DVD from the DVD store (the video shop guy whom I had usually called Video Shop Briere because of his weasel/hobbit like appearance was absent. Maybe he's in Philly trying out new kinds of waffles), I proposed a mass DVD watching marathon. Normally I would invite all of us to crash at my place. But many of us our restricted by our city, state, or continent. So the only way we could do it was to watch it at the same time TV broadcast style.

When: 9pm EST Tonight. Yes, tonight. You have less than 24 hours to get ready. Rent, buy, steal, pirate or even kill the video shop guy for the film. You won't wanna miss it.

What you need: a copy of the movie (very important unless you want us to re-enact the HLOG version of the movie), a computer with an internet connection and AIM software.

Guests of honour: D.B. Sweeney & Moira Kelly (from the DVD cover), Me, Capschick, Tracy, Bethany, HG & Steph [confirmed guests]. Other hloggers ready to give up their free night to do this and as well any of youse lurkers and HLOG fans. If you have been too ashamed to hunt down a copy of the movie, swing by and gimme a call - maybe a nearby hlogger will find out the wonders of carelessly sharing their personal details online.

What will happen:
  • Send me a message on aim (gunstress@gmail.com) so I can arrange the event to start on the 9pm time. So talk to me BEFOREHAND.
  • Pretty much a large AIM chat of "OMG you see that?", "OMG I SAW THAT!", and "Guys we're watching Godzilla right?"
  • No spoiling. I know some of you can quote the movie off by heart but some people (me) don't want to be told the ending. Anyone caught doing so will be told the ending of Harry Potter.
  • If your DVD fucks up, it's your responsibility to catch up. If nature calls, deal with it. Either way, I'm not doing anything to help you, capische?
Refreshments: Net popcorn, coffee, and for those who actually do have night on their end, BYO alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

I hope I've covered everything and if this works, maybe we can try another one.

OMG (I'm officially a 12 year old girl for writing that) this is the best idea ever! I'll be late since I'm on the West Coast but I'm definitely stopping by Best Buy on the way home and buying this movie and MD. (I have MD on VHS but I don't have a VHS player in my apt.)

some people (me) don't want to be told the ending
Jordi, does this mean you've never seen the movie? Blasphemy!!!!

Holy crap, this is hilarious...I can't believe so many people love this movie! Jordi, you're in for a real treat (no, kms2, she's never seen it - it IS blasphemy, isn't it??)

I cannot believe you are doing this on a night I have to work. I am so mad at you all, I can't even begin to express my rage. RAGE! See? That didn't even come close.

Well, grumble, grumble, grumble, have fun without me. *weeps*

CC: You know what outfit I'm pretending I'm wearing to commemorate this event.

Yeah, some of us have JOBS and would've enjoyed a little warning.

(Seriously, have fun. This is a great idea that we should definitely use for other events.)

LOL! What fun. I have my movie in and ready (I'm not excited or anything, eh?).

Boo...I already had plans tonight and my online DVD rental thing sent me 4 DVDs in the mail today and there's no way I can get them to send me this, too, for tonight.

Meh, there's always the sequel.

(AndyesIlookedandthereisone. Gasp.)

Successfully rented! I happened to go to a video store I hadn't been to in years, and so I got double the embarrassment of renting this particular movie, and of having them give me a very weird look from the bitchy girl working there when she pulled up my address and asked me "Do you still live at Stinson?" (Which is, for the record, dorms at my college generally reserved for freshmen.)

To make myself feel better that I was mistaken for a possible freshman, I went out and used my newly acquired beer purchasing ability.

Oh phooey, I already have plans tonight, too. And Netflix as I refuse to set foot in any rental stores. But this sounds like a fun idea. If it works out, I hope you try it again.

I propose Mighty Ducks (but only the first one) for the next movie. Or Mystery, Alaska, which I've never seen.

You've never seen Mystery, Alaska?? OMG, you are so fired. You and me are going to have to work on this...

CRAZY FUN! My family and I actually do this for Sabres games as we are spread around the country and we text throughout. It gets more fun if you play drinking games long distance too! (Toe pick, anyone?)

I love this idea...I guess I'm what you would call a lurker, anywhoo I'd love to join but I don't have the movie or AIM, hopefully another time. Have fun ladies

I think Mighty Ducks would be appropriate for the next movie screening! Saturday night anyone? Or is that too happening of a night?

Tracy said...

Not too happening for me, I'm lame and you ladies are my only life. :)

This is made out of awesome. I think that movie is possibly the first thing I was ever fannish about (other than hockey, of course).

Much like this blog, I would love to participate but living in Taiwan kind of makes it impossible.

So I'll just enjoy the fall out instead.

Toe Pick!
