Hi, Another newbie!

Hi! My name is Lisa and I'm an Isles fan if you couldn't tell by my username. I enjoy walks on the beach, long car rides.. hehe. :)

Where are you from? What do you do?

I hate to sound like John Cougar Mellencamp but I was born on Long Island, went to school on Long Island and still live on Long Island. I'm still looking for my dream career but for now I work for a car insurance company in the claims department. The best part about my job is wearing jeans and sneakers everyday. The worst part? Everything else. In my spare time I run a bulletin board about the Islanders.

What's your favorite team? Why?

The New York Islanders. While they haven't done anything worth while lately, they were a dynasty while I was in grade school. I honestly thought the Stanley Cup was something only they could win. I'm a loyal person and I could never turn my back on them, even when it's just me and a few thousand other people in the stands. In the past I had the own section to myself at the Coliseum which was kind of fun and yet sad.

Your least favourite team? Why?

The New York Rangers. Does it need to be said? I hate their players, I hate (most of) their fans and I even hate that lady liberty jersey.

Your favourite player of all time & now?

On my team it's Bobby Nystrom then and Rick DiPietro now. I also like Mike Modano and Joe Sakic.

If you had to punch one hockey player or member of the NHL organization, who and why?

Right now it's Sean Avery. Just shut up already.

What you'll be looking forward in this group blog.

I look forward to discussing the league with females that have the same love for hockey that I have.

What you don't like in general?

Most Long Island drivers and it's not because at work I have to deal with their accidents. I feel like I take my life in my hands whenever I leave home.

What role do female fans play in keeping the game alive?

My team does awful marketing towards female fans (and I let them know that constantly) but yet I feel like everytime I meet a female hockey fan, she's more passionate about the team and spends more on tickets and merchandise. It's really an untapped market around here. Let's face it, Rick DiPietro could sell this team more than any of the ice girls can but they promote them more.

What role do female fans play in picking heroes for the community?

I think female fans do a better job at noticing which ones do more charity work. One of the reasons why Nystrom is one of my all time favorites is because he always was (and still is) there to lend a hand.

Hockey just isn't the same without ..

Call me old school but I liked it when we just had JUST the organ and not blasting cheesy 90's music during every stop in play. I also dislike the ads and the fact that the PP, PK and last minute of play are now sponsored.

If you were on a deserted island, which player would you pick to stay with you? Crosby, Ovechkin or Phaneuf (hey he tried!)?

Ovechkin.

The player you'd like to take for a grand night out/a movie/a boring event.

grand night out..Ryan Smyth..I've seen the mullet in a tux and it cleans up well!
movie.. Scott Gomez, don't ask me why..
Boring event.. Can I pick Brett Hull? I get the feeling he'd make it less boring, that's for sure.

If you could make your own team, regardless of whatever players, what would it be called and where will it be/how would it be like?

A while ago I had this idea of calling my dream team the Tomatoes. Obviously with a name like that it belongs near a farming community. They would be like the Charleston Chiefs because they'd have to be..with that name!

Welcome to HLOG, Isleschick! It's always nice to have a new Islanders fan to kick around! (Oh, and don't think trying to butter us up by picking Gomez to go to the movies is going to work. Go Devils! :P)

Scott Gomez? Dont need a reason why. In fact, when discussing Gomez, we really dont even need to talk. Lets just stare at a picture of him and sigh.

Welcome!

Welcome Isleschick!!

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Yes it's true..I have (had?) a secret crush on Gomez. For many years I have watched Devils games on FSN when the Isles weren't playing and his post game interviews were always entertaining. I hope he doesn't go too far away now.

Head missus says welcome! The mullet + ugly coat is the best combination in my not so humble opinion.

Ahh! Careful there! Because if he's not signing with the Devils (or, uh, I guess the Islanders...) Gomer better be going far, far away. None of this Flyers or Rangers garbage, okay? OKAY??? *Fights back tears*

HA! Loves it! Welcome!!!

You may have to be a bit of a disciplinarian with Gomer at the movies - if I remember correctly it was him throwing popcorn at girls in front of him back in the day when he played here. However, if he behaved himself he'd be some nice arm candy!

Welcome!

We finally have the numbers to battle back against Pookie and Schnookie's Isles bashing! Huzzah!
