This might be a bit late but I just developed a brand new, rather inconvenient, superstition...
As indicated on my little profile, I am a Knitter. Sadly, I am the type of knitter who starts new projects even though I have half a dozen others in progress, which leads me to the new superstition:
I previously posted about the wonderful Sharks yarn by Claudia Hand Painted Yarns. Well, I desperately want to start a hat with it. My hands are itching, I want to start it so badly. But I have developed a fear/superstition. If I knit this hat and the Sharks end up out of the playoffs somewhere down the line, will I see the hat as a Bad Luck Hat and never be able to enjoy wearing it? On the other hand, if they do well, it could be a Good Luck Hat. Of course, it is almost May and May in California is generally hot and what will I need with a wool hat? I should just wait until the summer and it can be my hat for next season. But my hands are restless to start something NEW! And not just anything new, but this hat. I hate feeling superstitious!

Don't do it. Really, don't do it. It sounds like the boyfriend sweater. Wait until after the playoffs and make it for the start of next season.
Look away from the Sharks yarn, Jocelynn! In my experience, knitting superstitions work in reverse during the Playoffs. I was knitting on a sweater at a game in 2000 when the person next to me gasped, "But that yarn is Flyers orange! That's disgusting!" Disgusting, yes, but the Devils held Toronto to 6 shots and won the series.
Ok, I'll look away. I will keep it buried at the bottom of the stash.
