Who says you have to have a team in the playoffs to enjoy the postseason? My team is consistently out of it, yet I'm having a blast so far. I thought I'd bounce over here, then, and share my giddiness as the playoffs continue to unfold.
[And yes, admin goddesses, I'm ignoring the weekly topics and the creative challenges for now...I'll be back, don't worry!]
Does anyone NOT love the playoffs? Honestly, if you're a hockey fan there is no better time of year. And just because my Caps are out of it doesn't mean I don't stay busy - thanks to constant practice, I've gotten pretty good at finding ways to spend my time while they're all out golfing.
I can cheer on those teams that for some reason hold my secondary affection; I can boo those teams who garner my hatred year-round; or on those rare occasions during which I feel no particular attachment to either side I can just watch a game for the pure love of the sport. It's our game at it's best - intense, physical, flashy, exciting, hairy...
...yup, hairy. Love those playoff beards.
So I came up with a list (which is by no means extensive) of the things I love about the NHL's Second Season:
Playoff beards • Sweeps • Underdogs • Battle scars • 4-OT games • Unexpected heroes • Stars playing like stars • Impossible saves • Impossible goals • Bone-rattling checks • Monochromatic clothing in the stands • Home ice advantage • Stealing home ice advantage • Hockey 7 nights a week • Bonus CBC coverage • Cinderella stories • #8 seeds in the Finals • A rookie winning the Cup • An aging veteran winning his first Cup • Sportsmanship • Post-series handshakes • The championship team photo •The Stanley Cup...
Did I forget anything? Anyone have something they love that didn't make my list?

Game Sevens and upsets. Desperation.
SCREW YOU! I mean er... yes. Insightful post.
You forgot Chelios, he's always in something somewhere.
mmmm...hockey 7 nights a week...
Jordi, I said FAVORITE things about the playoffs. Chelios (aka Leather Face) would not be on my list. (Sorry, Red Wings fans...)
