Let the Real Season Begin!

This is me with my shiny new playoff tickets (not my best angle):

In case you can't tell, I'm really excited. We're now officially the Eastern Conference regular season champs, we played 60 minutes of really solid hockey tonight while beating the Pittsburgh Crosbys, (seriously, Versus, give it a rest - we GET IT!) and we're finally, finally starting to get everyone back from their various injuries including - dare I say it? - my dear sweet Timmy.

As far as the playoffs go, I'm not SUPER concerned with anyone in the Eastern conference though I think Tampa Bay would give us the least amount of trouble. They can score but if you can contain Vinny and St. Louis, they can struggle to get offense elsewhere. And I don't think they have the defense or goaltending to negate Buffalo's offense. I would probably be the most nervous about Montreal, especially if Huet gets back and gets hot, but I'm not as worried about them as I was at the beginning of the season for some reason. Ottawa could definitely be a tough match-up as well, but if they meet Pittsburgh in the first round, I'm not sure they're advancing. Just a gut feeling. If we play as well as we can, we should win the Conference. "Should" and "will" are two totally different things but I'm optimistic. For tonight atleast.

Because I'm still missing Marty: Marty welcomes Takeo Spikes to Philly. (Spikes is a former Buffalo Bill who was recently traded to the Eagles.)

Also, a fan written parody song about Derek Roy, The Derek Roy Rhapsody. I love Derek and I think he's really cut back on the diving this season a ton, but he can be a bit of a whiner. As much as I enjoy watching him play, I will admit the song totally cracked me up.

You should worry about Montreal. The Habs can TAKE U DOWN.

If the Habs make it. Goddamnit don't jinx it!

Love the photo. I'm fumingly jealous.

Ahaha city of brotherly love... I'll never get over my friend who was an outward Philly fan but very keen to say he wasn't into that stuff.

Does the first place team play the 9th placed now? Otherwise, plan on being invaded by legions of Leaf fans so if you are selling any extras...

Oh man, I'd consider selling organs on the black market for playoff tickets. Lucky! I hope you have a good time!

By the by, I'm only a...nine/ten hour drive...from Buffalo. New York is a nice trip during the spring time...;)

We had to buy tickets to all 8 home games in the first two rounds which we couldn't really afford to do (hello, credit card!) so we will most likely be selling a few games but as much as I kind of hate being that person, probably at a bit of a mark-up in order to balance out spending money that we didn't really have in the first place. Since tickets are going to be impossible to find - they were never even made available to the general public in Buffalo - I hated to not take the opportunity to buy them, especially since we have such a good shot this year (enter knocking on wood, throwing salt over shoulder, crossing self, virginal sacrifices to the hockey gods etc. here). Plus we haven't even paid for tickets to rounds 3 and 4 yet so unless we make some bucks back we're going to get priced out of those rounds.

(Maybe you can tell from the long, rambling attempted justification, but I feel a little bad about ripping off the less fortunate fan.)

Sherry and PPP: I was looking at various sites last night, trying to figure out how we wanted to sell the tickets, when my husband suddenly yelled from the other room, "No Canadians! Can you put that in the description? All you dirty Leaf fans can stay the hell in Toronto! Can you put that in the description?" So any Canadians will have to work undercover :-)

Heather! Heather!
I live IN Buffalo.
Pick me! Pick me!

Haha, no, I'm trying to get some from my uncle w/ season tickets.

Love the Marty message (gosh I miss him...). Of course, I hate the Bills, and Spikes, sooo... yea. (the only reason I remembered who he was, was b/c of the crunchy, melty bit)

Paige, let me know if you get tickets! If we end up going to the same meeting we have to meet up and say hi - an unofficial HLoG meeting!

(That should read "same game" not "same meeting." Duh.)
