About me and my love for Dion, I mean, the game

1. Where you're from, what you do - basic things.
I am from B.C. and live in Toronto. I refuse to become an Ontarian. I teach preschool when I am not watching hockey.

2. Your team and why you like them
My team is the Calgary Flames and I like them because I would be kicked out of the house if I liked any other team. I have a resident Flames fan who has been a fan since he was born. I started following the team because they were always on and grew to really the love the players and organization. I got hooked on Phaneuf when I watched him get drafted. I spent a few years watching WHL hockey and liked to keep track of the guys as they moved along. I also think Darryl Sutter is hilarious.

3. Your least favourite team and why?
The Leafs. Do I need a reason?

4. Your favourite player of all time & now?
All time - Wayne Gretzky.
Now - Dion Phaneuf.

5. If you had to punch one hockey player or member of the NHL organisation, who and why?
It would be Mike Peca just to get rid of those ridiculous teeth.

6. What you'll be looking forward in this group blog.
I think it's awesome that us ladies get to be represented in an intellectual way. We all have our own blogs but it's nice to come together and school other women on why you don't have to be a puckbunny to watch hockey.

7. What you don't like in general?
In general? Sheesh, I don't know. Being surrounded by Leafs fans. Previously being surrounded by Canucks fans. Not being able to live surrounded by Flames fans.

8. What role do female fans play in keeping the game alive?
Female fans are able to bring more emotions to the game. I know that my resident Flames fan can get quite angry when watching the game as can many guys when their team is losing. I think women are able to articulate how they are feeling during the game and are more open to feeling those emotions. I believe we are also interested in who the players are outside of hockey.

9. What role do female fans play in picking heroes for the community?
Jordi brought up a good point in the hometown boy making it big. Maybe it's the maternal instinct to be proud of the guy you watched in junior play in the NHL. I think it comes back to knowing the what the players are like away from the game, if you make a guy a hero because he gets lots of points but is a jerk in real life what does it matter? I want to be okay with watching the game with my future kids and knowing their role models aren't all stupidheads.

10. Hockey just isn't the same without affordable ticket prices.

11. If you were on a deserted island, which player would you pick to stay with you?
Dion Phaneuf because he could bring his guitar or maybe Matt Walker because he likes to fish.

12. Crosby, Ovechkin or Phaneuf (hey he tried!)?
Phaneuf. Do you notice a theme yet?

13. The player you'd like to take for:
A grand night out - Jason Spezza because I think he would fill out a tux quite nicely.
A movie - Miikka Kiprusoff because he would be cute eating popcorn.
A boring event - Andrew Ference because we would have a good conversation instead of being bored.
Of course, I would take my boy if these guys couldn't make it.

14. If you could make your own team, regardless of whatever players, what would it be called and where will it be/how would it be like?
I think I would take my All-Hot Team, keep the name of "Les garcons parfaits de l'hiver" and put them in my closet.

Awww Preschool. I'm no good with kids.

I'm sort of thinking that the popular answer to Question 3 is going to be the Leafs.

By the way I messed with the code to make the text smaller. I'll wait till it hurts our eyes.

I actually enjoy the smaller text :P

What you don't like Peca and his freakishly straight caps? [Neither do I]

Seriously, Peca's teeth creep me out. I had to turn the brightness down on the TV for his interview AND put on sunglasses.
