With the Leafs out of the playoffs I've managed to get a media pass to the Marlies games, so from the press box at Ricoh Coliseum here's a first period report.
The Marlies are down 2 – nothing at the end of a very feisty first period. 3 seconds into the game, the puck barely out of the face off circle, when the Crunch’s Zenon Konopka and Toronto’s Colin Murphy dropped the gloves. Derek McKenzie scored @ 1:40 and Clay Wilson @ 11:04. Toronto had some good chances, including two by Bates Battaglia, whose goal won game 7 against San Antonio.
Toronto’s Kyle Rogers and Derek Dorsett of the Crunch finished the first as it began – with fisticuffs.

Okay, so the times I did get a chance to watch the Marlies this year, they did very well. And their stats weren't that shabby, either. So why is it that they're...how do I put this - not seeming to do exceptionally well in the playoffs?
GO CRUNCH!! I'm so proud of my boys!!
dare, the Marlies style got them 3-2, 2-1 victories which makes the playoffs tougher. Crunch are a very physical team and so was San Antonio. It's tougher to keep that extra breathing room in the post season.
