Speaking of superstitions...

Apparently VRS announcers don't understand you never say the "s" word during a hockey game.

Doc and his color commenter couldn't get enough of mentioning Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist was in the midst of
159:34 minutes shut out streak on Tuesday night. When Trent Hunter scored the first of the Isles 3 goals in the 3rd period, they laughed. "You think we jinxed him?"

Despite the loss, Henrik is still racking up the saves and is the only goaltender in the league to play 15 straight games so far this season, notching 4 shutouts along the way. He is arguably the hottest goaltender in the league... and thank God he is. The Rangers are posting, despite having the likes of Jaromir Jagr, Brendan Shanahan, Chris Drury and Scott Gomez playing 18 minutes a night, one of the worst offenses in the league. (Although this could all be contributed to a couple key injuries, some chemistry changes in the works, and the coach Tom Renney's current goal of having the Rangers play like the New Jersey Devils.) Or maybe the team is just bad.

Regardless, it's Henrik the saving the day for the Rangers (no pun intended). Stephen Valiquette, Rangers backup goaltender, had this to say about the starter.

“I just think he’s an extraordinary goalie. To me, he’s just the best in the league. I see him every day in practice and last year during the stretch I was here, I’d never seen goaltending like that, and I played with Luongo and DiPietrio, a lot of good goals right down the line. I haven’t seen anyone as hot as Henrik.” (Taken from http://rangers.lohudblogs.com)

The Rangers expect him to play tonight against the Penguins, as well.

Don't play too well, Lundqvist. The Rangers only have him locked up until July 1st, when he become an unrestricted free agent. And with the looks of Kippers contract extension and how well the two-time Vezina nominated Lundqvist has been playing, this could hurt a Ranger team currently scraping the salary cap.

I can't stand Mike Emerik. They must have searched for the most annoying voice when they hired him.

I can't even think about the turn of events come July 1. I'd trade JJ, CD, or SG before I let the King go!
