On the topic of fashion....

My hopes for the upcoming NHL jersey release.

I am hoping, seriously hoping against hope that with the release of the new RBK Edge jerseys, we'll get women's cut jerseys that look like.... well... REAL TEAM JERSEYS. RBK managed to figure it out for the All Star teams so I can only hope they'll not throw away that effort when it comes to making the jerseys for the individual teams.

Because frankly, those pink and white pieces of crap piss me off. My team's colors aren't pink and white. Of the two teams that I really follow, the closet you get to pink is the red in the bottom of the Canuck C, and I think you might be attacked by a rabid Sedin if you tried to push that too far.

Seriously, making "women's cut" jerseys predominantly in 'baby girl' colors (there are a couple of teams that figured it out... see the Blues.)is almost insulting. It implies that women aren't into the game enough to want to wear a "real" jersey and all we want to be is fashion plates.... albeit in pink and white.

Yeah, you can argue that a real fan wouldn't want to wear a women's-cut jersey because it's not OMGEXACTLY WHAT THE TEAM WEARS, but that's because a women's cut jersey wouldn't fit the majority of the team. Similarly, a men's cut jersey doesn't fit my girly body. Oh sure, it goes on, but even in a men's small, I haul around a small dresses' worth of excess fabric.

I don't even look GOOD in pink and white.

I'll be waiting to buy a new jersey until the new jersey release. Hopefully they'll figure it out after that.

While the Canucks' colours SHOULD be pink and white I agree that women's cut jersey are a better idea than pink.

Puck bunnies can find better outlets for advertising their availability without having a team demean a portion of their fans.

Although I hear Sherry's Ottawa jersey is pink ;)

pisses me off because its pure laziness on the part of the team. I can just see the design/marketing team now, spending hours on marketing the game and bringing in fans but giving the women a pass by a choosing an easy ploy like pink jerseys. Why arent all the guy's jerseys blue and white then?

and, is it really so hard to make a woman's size jersey? Listen up advertising/marketing/design people of hockey: they are called boobs (in fact, just go ahead and call'em whatever you want. Trust me, we have many names for your penises). You add some material in the chest area. Shouldnt be too hard to figure out...

I think the pink jerseys were a league decision, rather than an individual team decision. Either way, they still suck.

The Sharks are rumored to be changing the logo from the half shark in triangle to a full shark. And there's supposed to be more burnt orange. Since I dislike change I bought a replica of the current jersey, on clearance. A lovely 50% off.

Seems like those pink jerseys went over like crap, too - they're on sale now for $25 or something, I can only presume because a good pottion of poeple think like us and want no part of them.

A few years ago they had the same women's cut jerseys in the same colours as the "men's" jerseys. I have an Islanders jersey... They didn't sell well either - I got mine for $30 I think. As a girlie-girl and a fan of pink, I want to vomit all over the pink jerseys - unless they're donating the sales to Breast Cancer research... Maybe they should do that to sell out the remaining stock.

Jocelynn - I'm with you on disliking change. I'm rather partial to the 1/2 shark and the Teal.

O_O!!! Yeah I saw that St. Louis women's cut jersey... I hope they allow personalized names on it cause I'd want Erik Johnson :PPP! *runs*

But same with the Canucks, whose colors SHOULD NOT BE PINK AND WHITE UNLESS YOU'RE A LEAFS FAN (then you're only allowed to wear pink and purple jerseys), I hope they release actual women's cut jerseys with personalized names and numbers on the back. :(((( But the youth jerseys are good enough though XD;;;

Thanks to my boyfriend, I am a proud owner of an awesome women's cut jersey in the acutal Kings colors. I'm petite so I needed the women's cut so it's really quite perfect. I agree, the pink and white jerseys are downright atrocious.

I too have been screaming about the pink jerseys for months. What's wrong with women's cut jerseys? Why do other sports have them but the NHL won't make them available anymore? Makes me so mad.

Oh PPP, you're pushing it. We don't want to have a smackdown.

To be honest, I don't really feel the need for womens jerseys as much. I know it's annoying and the sleeves are huge but... I like it? Plus I'm cheap, a woman's jersey would come with less fabric so it'd fit around you more!

Though women's jerseys > Pink bile

I agree about the pinkness. They really bug me. They just look completely washed out... I hate that. A friend just bought me a jersey for my birthday and I love it but I feel like I'm wearing a tent when I put it on... or maybe a little girl dressing up in her mom's clothes. :)

kms2: :O Where did your bf get it? XD (post pic of the jersey?) I was looking at the Kings shop at NHL.com and they don't have it other than the pink. :(
