I couldn't wait any longer so here's the Friday Five:

1. What book or magazine are you currently reading?
2. Do you eat Skittles and/or M&Ms by the color or eat them by the handful?
3. What famous (A to Z-list Celebrity) person do you look like the most?
4. What is your favorite Ben & Jerry's flavor?
5. Do you have any vacations planned for the summer?

1. "No Idle Hands" a history of knitting. (still!)
2. It starts out as individual colors but quickly devolves into handfuls.
3. I've heard Kate Winslet. I doubt it though.
4. Dublin Mudslide. (I would drink Baileys like water if it weren't boozy...)
5. Hopefully going to Las Vegas for Roller*Con 2007. Wedding in Portland... I'm very broke, so probably not much else.

1. What book or magazine are you currently reading?
Magazine: Cooking Light
Book: The Code. I've been reading it for months and just haven't gotten around to finishing it.

2. Do you eat Skittles and/or M&Ms by the color or eat them by the handful?
By the color...am I the only one with a mild case of OCD? And ellie, I thought it was Yellow 5.

3. What famous (A to Z-list Celebrity) person do you look like the most?
I have absolutely no clue.

4. What is your favorite Ben & Jerry's flavor?
Low-Fat Frozen Yogurt Phish Food. It tastes like ice cream but with waaaay less fat. I've heard Americone Dream is amazing but I haven't been able to find it.

5. Do you have any vacations planned for the summer?
St. Louis for a wedding. Probably to New Orleans with the bf at some point to see his parents. And perhaps another Vegas trip with friends. r

Sports Illustrated...the Hansens are on the cover!

Neither. I'm a chocolate snob.

Pre-teen (I refuse to say "tween") girls tell me Anne Hathaway. I assume they mean frizzy haired, glasses and generally nerdy from Princess Diaries.

Stephen Colbert's Americone Dream

Day trips, 'cause I'm poor. Yesterday was Santa Cruz. Next week Monterey and San Francisco. Half Moon Bay the week after. I might add Sausalito and Oakland (yes, I said Oakland: it has its nice parts) to the list.

1. What book or magazine are you currently reading?

Schnookie: "Bad Luck and Trouble", the latest Jack Reacher book.
Pookie: "Les Miserables". No Jack Reacher in that one. :(

2. Do you eat Skittles and/or M&Ms by the color or eat them by the handful?

Schnookie: I eat M&Ms carefully in twos. Skittles do NOT get eaten here at IPB Manor.
Pookie: I eat them in small handfuls and then discover later I sat on several and my pants and couch are ruined. Happens every time.

3. What famous (A to Z-list Celebrity) person do you look like the most?

Schnookie was once told she looked like "that actress from the Sixth Sense". When Schnookie said, "Toni Collette?" the person snapped, "NO! The actress from the Sixth Sense!" Schnookie does not look anything like Olivia Williams, so it must be Toni Collette.
Pookie looks like a pile of puke.

4. What is your favorite Ben & Jerry's flavor?

Phish Food, but since we live in the epicenter of excellent boutique ice creams shops it's totally slumming to buy ice cream in the grocery store.

5. Do you have any vacations planned for the summer?

Nope, we're saving up for hockey road trips this winter!

1. What book or magazine are you currently reading?
To Kill A Mockingbird (again). I can't help myself, it's one of my absolute favorites.

2. Do you eat Skittles and/or M&Ms by the color or eat them by the handful?
Um... not a huge fan of M&Ms but skittles I usually end up sorting, for some strange ADD reason.

3. What famous (A to Z-list Celebrity) person do you look like the most?
I've been compared to Angelina Jolie & Jessica Alba... oh wait, you meant in REAL life? ;)

4. What is your favorite Ben & Jerry's flavor?
I was really into Everything But The Kitchen Sink for a while but Walmart sold me a bad carton so I got really turned off to it. So now I've shifted my affections to Strawberry Cheesecake.

5. Do you have any vacations planned for the summer?
No. I'm broke. Bahaha!

1. Henry Rollins' Black Coffee Blues. Holy crap depressing.

2. Skittles by the color, M&Ms by the handful.

3. I have absolutely no idea. Everything I hear is always based on who has had seventeen different hair colors throughout their careers.

4. Phish food all the way, but I think that's because I mostly don't buy Ben and Jerry's much because I'm totally cheap.

5. NONE. And it SUCKS. Says the girl who went to Prague last summer, China the summer before, and Japan before that. I am going to Chicago a few times and up to Toronto again...but I wouldn't say those hardly count.

Tracy said...

Steph, I'd say they most definitely count... I officially hate you. Ok, I'm just extremely jealous.

Sure, technically it's Saturday now, but I don't really care. I've come down from my somewhat altered state caused by a happy hour that turned into a happy 5 hours and I can't sleep. So here goes.

1. Nothing because my stupid People magazine didn't come today. Bastards.

2. By the color, but I don't really know why - oh, and always in equal numbers. I may be a little OCD.

3. I was in Rome a few summers ago and this random Italian guy called me Shakira, but he was trying to sell me something and I'm also pretty sure he was insane.

4. Cherry Garcia. Yum.

5. I already took my one vacation a few weeks ago, which was a cruise to Bermuda with my family. Now I'm stuck here in the muggy swamp that is DC, toiling away in my cubicle doing mind-numbing work until god knows when...yay.

1. Pablo Neruda...Odes to Opposites
2. Handful
3. Ralph the Piano Playing dog from the Muppet Show (my hair flops around like his ears do)

I is sorry senoritas.

1. InStyle magazine with a bit of Vogue. Book is the Bosox book Faithful by Stephen King and Stewart O'Nan.

2. I've done handful. Colours only with skittles cause sometimes I like the red ones only.

3. None. I remember when I was small and girls were divided by their Spice Girls comparisons, I was Posh because wtf, I dunno.

4. Ben and wha?

5. None. Just money making. Please I need the money.

1. Lady Friday by Garth Nix, The Tiger in the Well by Philip Pullman, Elizabeth and Mary by Janet Dunn, Forty Signs of Rain by Kim Stanley Robinson

What? I have a short attention span.

2. Up north it's ALL about the Smarties, kids! And yes, sometimes I do eat the red ones last.

3. I don't think I do. Nothing in mainstream North American pop culture, and I don't really follow the scene in Hong Kong and surrounding areas (where stars might look like me more often)

4. I don't think I've had Ben & Jerry's. I'm serious.

5. Quitting in August to move west count? Otherwise, we're going to Niagara for the day Wednesday, as I noted in the CBox.

1. I just finished reading the latest Psychology Today.

2. Handful!

3. No one! Maybe Sarah Silverman?

4. My latest favorite is Americone Dream, alltime: Peanut Butter Cup.

5. San Francisco in September for one year anniversary.

1. Guns, Germs and Steel by Jared Diamond.
2. Well, I don't just dump a handful in my face. I eat 2 or 3 at a time...but I don't colour-discriminate. Oh, and I like sour Skittles.
3. Oh geez, I don't know. Someone yellow...
4. The chocolate chip cookie dough one...or just plain vanilla. What can I say? I'm boring...
5. There have been some rumblings of a road-trip but nothing definite yet.

Marie said...

K.le: have you seen the sour skittles commercial in which the old man is getting "milked"? It's quite disturbing and very unappetizing. I love me some sour skittles, but that commercial did nothing for me.

1. Cross my Heart by Carly Phillips. It is relly good

2. M&M, and I hate the red ones. ;)

3. I'm Really not into the celebrity, cause there just people.

4. none

5. enjoy time at the beach, and hopefully be able to touch the cup sometime.

Wow, this was an awesome Friday Five! Everyone's answers were so funny! Kristin, your Ralph the Dog comment in particular made me laugh out loud! Leanne, is the Phillip Pullman good? I'd never heard of it, but loved "His Dark Materials". Oh, and k.le, Schnookie just piped up, "I loved 'Gun, Germs and Steel'!"

leanne said...

Pookie, the Pullman the third book in a series of four about a girl sleuth in Victorian England. I find the main character a bit implausible - she manages money and handles guns with equal aplomb. It's not quite as well executed as "His Dark Materials" (can't wait for the movie!) but entertaining all the same.

kms2: i just googled for that commercial and whoa it was skeevy...haha...yeah, it was pretty gross...and it didn't have much to do with sour skittles, did it?

pookie: yeah, i was looking for light summer reading and i ended up with that...haha...i'm liking it so far, i'm about halfway through.
