Ducks: What free agency?!

Brian Burke stated pretty plainly that Anaheim will not be agressive during the free agency period that will be coming Tuesday, July 1st.

That would largely be due to the return of Scott Niedermayer, combined with the expected return of Teemu Selanne.

So, in terms of the whole FA frenzy, the Ducks won't be very active, but it's very possible that we'll put a couple of price tags on some boys.

Among those "for sale", I suspect Francois Beauchemin, Mathieu Schneider, and Bobby Ryan to be possibilities.

And as far as our own UFAs & RFAs go, there's some slim pickings.

UFAs:

- Teemu Selanne: well, he's not going anywhere. If he comes back to play, he'll be in Anaheim again. I fully anticipate (and look forward) to watching him play here until he chooses to retire... which I hope will not be this summer.

- Joe DiPenta: I don't expect him to be re-signed this summer, even though I think he's Joe Dependable and I love that he's always been personable and kind to fans.

RFAs:

- Corey Perry: I expect the offer sheets to come, but I don't expect Perry to sign them. I fully expect him to be back in a Ducks uniform playing alongside Ryan Getzlaf yet again. No guarantees, and the longer this goes, the more anxious I get -- I just can't help it. He's a valuable scoring forward who's antagonistic around the edges. And it works. For him, for this team. He's not a particularly strong skater, but he's not afraid to do the dirty work.

The Ducks have already re-signed my man, Captain Hottie himself, Brian Sutherby to a one-year $700,000 contract extention, and have made qualifying offers to fellow (notable) RFAs Corey Perry, Geoff Platt, and Drew Miller.

In addition, they've extended the contracts of Jonas Hiller and Andrew Ebbett.

So, as far as Anaheim going shopping this season? I think not.

Although, if I had my way, I'd snatch up Marian Hossa or Ryan Malone or Brian Campbell in a heartbeat. (Yeah... like that's going to happen.)

All in all, I don't expect my team to change much. I think there will be little tweaks and adjustments, but nothing crazy.
